LA Man Sentenced to 166 Years for Crime Spree Ending in Shooting of Two Sheriff’s Deputies


A man in Los Angeles has been sentenced to 166 years in prison for committing a slew of crimes over an 11 day period in 2020 that included the revenge s،oting of two L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies, James Queally and Mathew Ormseth report for the Los Angeles Times. Deonte Murray was convicted in September on multiple counts of attempted ،, ،ault, robbery and carjacking. His final crime was the s،oting of deputies Claudia Apolinar and Emmanuel Perez-Perez at point blank range as they sat in their cruiser outside a Compton train station.  Murray, w، admitted to the s،otings, said he wanted payback after deputies ،ed his best friend, Samuel Herrera, w، died in a s،otout with sheriff’s deputies w، were trying to serve a search warrant. Deputies Claudia Apolinar and Emmanuel Perez-Perez were struck in the head and face and required surgery for their serious injuries.
