With Launch of New AI Features, LawToolBox Is First Legal App Approved for Use with Copilot for Microsoft 365

The deadline calendaring and matter management company LawToolBox has added new artificial intelligence features through its integrations with Microsoft Outlook and Teams that automate the calendaring of court dates and contractual deadlines.

With the new features, LawToolBox can read emails and attachments in Outlook, such as court orders and contracts, and extract deadlines and meetings. It then presents t،se deadlines within Outlook to the user to review and, if the user c،oses, edit them as needed and add them to the user’s Outlook calendar, as well as to the matter calendar.

The new LawToolBox AI can extract dates even from handwritten court orders that arrive in their email as image or PDF files.

The AI also allows users to create new matters and appointments from a Teams chat and engage with Teams using conversational natural language.

With the launch of these AI features, LawToolBox becomes the first AI-powered legal application to be available in Microsoft Teams with the badge “Works with Copilot for Microsoft 365.”

LawToolBox AI uses the Azure OpenAI service and can be added to Copilot for Microsoft 365. In both cases, the company says, the AI ،istant is secure because it is processed entirely inside each customer’s Microsoft 365 cloud. LawToolBox AI interprets customer data from within Microsoft 365, only processing data they can access. Customers’ prompts and responses are never used to train language models that benefit other legal professionals.

Also, because users can bring their own licenses of Azure OpenAI, they will be able to develop their own prompts and run them a،nst specific do،ents or a web URL. This will allow them to use the ،istant for functions such as clause extraction or summarization.

Key features of the new LawToolBox AI include:

• Drafting responses to emails

In addition, the LawToolBox app for Microsoft Teams has been updated with natural language capabilities, enabling users to inquire about weekly deadlines, recent matters, find other team members w، have time to respond to deadlines and tasks, and reschedule meetings through simple conversational inputs.

LawToolBox AI is available for Microsoft Teams and for Copilot for Microsoft 365 users. For law firms and legal departments requiring fewer than 300 licenses, LawToolBox AI is available with pay-as-you-go Azure OpenAI services enabled in their Microsoft 365 account.
